If you've never attended a class before, it's best to attend a General Program class to get a taste of what's on offer. GP classes typically follow the structure of a teaching followed by meditation.
Remember, meditation is a skill learned through repetition. It's not unusual for people to try meditation for the first time and feel distracted and unfocused. That's all okay! If you decide now to stick with it and practice regularly you'll become a seasoned meditator in time.
By attending classes at the center you'll surround yourself with a group of people who are sincere about training their minds through meditation, so you'll be in great company.
To take your practice deeper, you can progress to the Foundation Program. Through regular and systematic teachings, discussion and meditation in a study group, FP supports students to improve their practice and make faster progress. Contact the center for further details.
Volunteering
Our center is run by an enthusiastic team of volunteers. Even if you're interested in Buddha's teachings but don't yet feel ready to attend a class, you're welcome to become part of our community through volunteering.
We appreciate all kinds of skills, so whatever you're able to contribute, please let us know via the contact form on the volunteering page.
Free E-books
If you'd like to do some pre-reading before attending one of our classes, Geshe Kelsang has recently made two of his most widely read books available for free online. Check out Modern Buddhism and How to Transform your life here.
